We can’t be a country of broken promises.
Team — one of my favorite things about this campaign is that I get to meet people from every walk of life and every political stripe.
Just a few days ago, while I was at a community gathering in Canby, Minnesota, I was approached by a lifelong farmer who said:
“Peggy, I’ve been a Republican my whole life.”
“But I’m sick and tired of what’s happening in D.C.”
“It used to be that a handshake meant your word. Now? Seems like Washington is full of broken promises.”
Those words stuck with me.
The frustration so many people are feeling right now isn’t about partisanship. It’s frustration with the leaders who have stopped listening to the folks on the ground.
I’m spending time in communities, big and small, not for photo ops, but to hear directly from people who feel left behind. You can’t fight for folks if you don’t know what they want you to fight for.
