Three years ago, the Supreme Court tore away the certainty that women in Virginia had long relied on: the right to access essential, lifesaving reproductive health care.
I felt that attack deeply—as a legislator, as a mother, and most of all, as a woman who experienced loss and danger myself:

When I recently shared my story—about how I suffered life-threatening complications after miscarrying during my second pregnancy—it was not to gain sympathy. It was to remind us all why our freedoms matter.
If I had been in a state with an abortion ban, I might not have survived. I was fortunate. My doctor could act immediately, without delay or asking bureaucratic permission.
I’m now running for Lieutenant Governor because I don’t want any Virginian—and no doctor—to face that kind of decision without the full protection of our law
But anti-choice extremists like Glenn Youngkin and Winsome Sears think they know better than you when it comes to making decisions about your own health care.
