We’ve seen ICE agents stalk the entrances of immigration hearings. We’ve seen families torn apart as people are dragged out of restaurants, workplaces, and even their own homes— many with no criminal record and legal status. These are not isolated incidents. This is a strategy of fear.
These raids are not only cruel—they are threatening the safety and cohesion of our communities.
And for speaking out against it, one Arizona State Senator is being targeted.
Senator Analise Ortiz represents Legislative District 24, a working-class, predominantly Latino community in West Phoenix. When ICE began terrorizing neighborhoods with surprise raids, she didn’t stay silent. She took action—warning her constituents on social media where ICE had been spotted, urging them to avoid the area and stay safe.
Now, she’s facing threats of arrest, expulsion from the State Senate, racist threats of deportation (she was born in Arizona), and even threats against her life.
All for one simple act: trying to protect her community.
There is no place for this in a civil society. But in Arizona, this is what we’re up against.
The Arizona GOP has embraced the MAGA playbook more aggressively than most. Joe Arpaio may be a distant memory for some. But, here, the ideology that gave rise to Trumpism was alive and well long before 2016. Raids like these started here in Arizona back in 2010 with the passage of SB 1070.
Now that you know what we’re facing, Friend, will you consider making a donation to help us elect—and re-elect—Democrats like Senator Ortiz? [[link removed]]
We need more people who are willing to put everything on the line to defend their communities from authoritarianism.
