Texas Republicans are threatening to fine, jail, and remove over 50 Democratic lawmakers, including 13 women leaders, from office after they fled the state to break quorum and delay the passage of a devastating GOP gerrymandering bill.
This bill would eliminate 5 Democratic districts from Texas’ Congressional map. It’s a blatant attack on our Democracy, and our Ruth’s List-endorsed women leaders are on the front lines of the fight by standing with these Democratic Texas lawmakers and sounding the alarm bells that Republicans are coming for Florida’s maps next.
In fact, Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez has already started the process to gerrymander our state — laying the groundwork to lock in Republican control for years to come.
