It’s no secret that COVID-19 continues to devastate main streets across America. We need a second stimulus bill — the HEROES Act — to reboot our economies and ensure relief is reaching small businesses and the millions of people they employ.
It's been hard to stomach the completely lopsided federal response by the Trump administration to tackling these formidable challenges in your town and in cities and towns across America. While large corporations and their CEOs and shareholders got top priority for relief in the first round, local small businesses suffered, critical public-school jobs continue to be threatened and working families are wondering how they’re going to keep afloat.
This pandemic isn’t over yet, and that first $1,200 check (for those lucky enough to even get it) didn’t last long. Working people and small businesses pay their taxes so that in times of crisis, our elected officials can deploy those funds fairly to help provide a bridge to a recovery.
We need the HEROES Act and we need it now.
This bill has passed through the Democratic-led House and is waiting for senators to act.
This second round of stimulus resources would extend an economic lifeline to working people and small businesses who need help to weather this public health storm. Working people are desperate for our elected leaders in the Senate to put partisanship aside and do what is right for our health, our economy and our country. Passing the HEROES Act is a crucial step toward giving working people and small businesses the urgent relief they need.
