Robbie Gibb, a BBC board member and one of just five people on the
Editorial Guidelines and Standards Committee, is censoring Palestine and
blocking vital coverage of Gaza’s genocide.

The BBC has been censoring Palestine for years - now we know who’s behind
it: Robbie Gibb.

Gibb sits on the BBC Board and is one of just five people on the Editorial
Guidelines and Standards Committee, the body that shapes what the BBC can
and can’t say. He has a long track record of shutting down criticism of
Israel, and he’s used his position to block Gaza coverage, including the
documentary Gaza: Medics Under Fire.

Now, over 400 public figures, including more than 100 BBC journalists, are
calling for his removal. The BBC is trying to sweep it under the rug,
dismissing it as an “internal matter.” But staff say this isn’t new:
complaints about the BBC’s Gaza coverage have been repeatedly brushed
aside. 

We cannot stay silent while those in power silence the truth. It’s time to
back the BBC journalists demanding accountability.

Gibb helped buy and run the Jewish Chronicle, a paper known for pushing
strong pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian views. He’s been repeatedly accused
of monitoring journalists’ tweets and blocking stories that show the truth
about Gaza.

BBC staff have spoken out, saying the network consistently humanizes
Israeli victims while leaving out key context like the occupation and the
Nakba.

The BBC often hides behind “editorial policy” and “impartiality”, but when
public and staff pressure gets loud enough, they’ve changed course. The
only thing keeping Gibb on the board now is silence. Let’s break it.

Our pressure is working. After thousands of us raised the alarm about the
BBC's censorship of the Gaza doctors documentary, BBC signed over the
rights to the producer of the film who then worked to have it shown
through Channel 4 and Zeteo. Had it not been for public pressure, the BBC
would still be suppressing the film. Let's keep it up!
