These past few weeks, I have been trying to perform Congressional oversight on the inhumane ICE detention facilities in New York City.

I have visited 26 Federal Plaza multiple times, and every time, I am denied entry. This week, I tried to assess the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and they once again shut the door in our faces.

I am appalled by the treatment of our immigrant communities, who are being indefinitely detained in horrific conditions in these centers.
