Clear the Shelters
Hurst offers FREE Pet Adoptions August 1-31
This August, the Hurst Animal Services and Adoption Center is participating in NBCUniversal Local’s “Clear the Shelters” national campaign! This is a month-long initiative, dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for animals in need. From August 1-31, the Hurst Animal Services & Adoption Center is waiving all adoption fees to make it even easier to welcome a new furry family member! Every adoption not only gives an animal a second chance but also opens space in the shelter to rescue and care for more animals in need. Donations play a vital role in helping us provide essential medical care, food, and a safe, comfortable environment for these animals as they wait for their forever homes. By adopting and donating, you are helping us create a better future for every animal in our care.

weekly watering advice with image of sprinklers watering grass
Weekly Watering Advice
One of the most important steps in lawn care and water conservation is proper irrigation. A healthy lawn doesn’t need to be watered daily. In fact, watering deeply and infrequently, once or twice a week if needed, encourages grass to develop deep, drought-resistant roots. Avoid light, frequent watering, which leads to shallow root systems and makes grass more susceptible to heat and disease.
Spacing out your irrigation days also trains your lawn to rely less on artificial watering. You can even subscribe to weekly watering advice from waterisawesome.com [ [link removed] ], which factors in local weather to determine if watering is necessary and how much watering is needed. It also provides advice based on your sprinkler type. This tool can keep irrigation systems off for up to 25 weeks a year!
