Nearly $10 million worth of birth control – enough to protect potentially
millions of people from unintended pregnancies – is sitting in a warehouse
in Europe.

Unless Congress steps in, the United States will incinerate it all.^[ [link removed] ]^

These contraceptives were purchased for global distribution through USAID.
But after the program was dismantled under the Trump administration, the
supplies were stranded. Instead of authorizing their transfer to European
governments or trusted NGOs that can get them into clinics, the State
Department plans to destroy them.

It is wasteful. It is harmful. And it is completely avoidable. Around the
world, people are facing increasing barriers to reproductive healthcare.
In many communities, reliable access to birth control is already scarce.
Burning these supplies would deny millions the ability to make decisions
about their own lives and futures.

Congress and the State Department can authorize the transfer right now –
but we need public pressure to get them to take action.
