2025 Jack Miller Fellows announced

The Jack Miller Center has announced its 2025 class of Jack Miller Fellows, including 24 graduate students and young faculty from 17 universities across the country.

Since 2004, the Jack Miller Fellowship has brought together a community of rising scholars who have committed their careers to teaching the ideas and documents of the American political tradition. Our hundreds of fellowship alumni include many of the top American civics scholars in the nation.

The fellowship begins with a rigorous two-week Summer Institute in which the new cohort sharpens their understanding of American political thought and history and builds a rich professional network to further their intellectual growth. This year's fellows gathered in Charlottesville, Virginia in July to study and discuss the theme "Republicanism and Civic Education."

“These scholars are some of the brightest young minds in the country,” JMC President Hans Zeiger said. “The fellowship offers them a chance not only to hone their knowledge, but also to join an intellectual community on the frontlines of a civics renaissance.”

This Thursday, August 14 at 3 pm ET, join us for a virtual discussion of Willa Cather’s short story “The Best Years,” with Professor Stuart Warner (Roosevelt University) and JMC's own Thomas Kelly.

America's 250th birthday next year gives Americans the opportunity to appreciate our country's unique character in many creative ways. In this webinar, we'll ask, "Why should we celebrate with great art? What can we learn about American civics from our country's rich and storied literary tradition?"

With its strong themes of the civic importance of family and the risks and rewards of technological advancement and “progress,” Cather's 1945 story is still just as fresh and relevant to readers 80 years later.

About the Jack Miller Center

The Jack Miller Center is a nonpartisan educational venture to advance the work of scholars who teach and study the ideas, documents, and history we hold in common as Americans. We seek to grow the talent pipeline of university educators who teach the American political tradition, to forge new models for university-based training of K-12 civics and history teachers, and to build a diverse coalition of Americans to ignite a civic education renaissance.
