Dear John,

Every time I learn about how people who are forced to flee engage with UNHCR’s digital services, like managing their own information through mobile portals or using digital ID cards to receive assistance, I am reminded that innovation can be life changing.

Whether it is checking their case status through a mobile portal or using a digital ID to collect food and medicine, refugees around the world are engaging with UNHCR in more direct, accessible ways than ever before.

For communities forced to flee, this kind of access does not just make life easier, it helps restore dignity and control in moments of crisis. That is why at UNHCR, we have made it our mission to ensure refugees are not left behind in a world that is becoming more digital every day.

We have been evolving how we deliver support so refugees can access protection, essential services, and the tools they need to move forward with their lives.

Over the next two weeks, I will be sharing stories from the field, real examples of how digital tools are helping refugees rebuild their lives, and how our colleagues in the field are enabling refugees to use technology to access services and support their independence.

Stay tuned to learn how your support can drive meaningful digital innovation for refugees.

Thank you,

Monia Hassan
