Texas redistricting fight hits more states, from NY to CA [[link removed]]
Texas Republicans’ attempt to gerrymander districts in their favor has spiraled into a nationwide standoff among the states. Though, through all of the chaos and noise, it’s important to remember that The Freedom to Vote Act [[link removed]] would have banned partisan gerrymandering nationwide. Not a single Republican in the Senate voted for it.
RFK Jr. halts $500 million for mRNA vaccine research - CBS News [[link removed]]
RFK Jr. has stopped $500 million worth of research into future mRNA vaccines. This move is incredibly dangerous and weakens our nation’s ability to deal with potential pandemics in the future.
Representatives on the Record
Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (202) 225-6576
Would Rep. Miller-Meeks support a nationwide ban on partisan gerrymandering? Why not? The Republicans have control of the House, Senate, and Presidency. If they care about elections being fair, why haven’t they done it yet? Why is she fighting in Congress for politicians’ ability to gerrymander districts instead of for the constituents who elected her?
Representative Ashley Hinson (202) 225-2911
Would Rep. Hinson support a nationwide ban on partisan gerrymandering? Why not? The Republicans have control of the House, Senate, and Presidency. If they care about elections being fair, why haven’t they done it yet? Why is she fighting in Congress for politicians’ ability to gerrymander districts instead of for the constituents who elected her?
Representative Zach Nunn (515) 400-8180
Would Rep. Nunn support a nationwide ban on partisan gerrymandering? Why not? The Republicans have control of the House, Senate, and Presidency. If they care about elections being fair, why haven’t they done it yet? Why is he fighting in Congress for politicians’ ability to gerrymander districts instead of for the constituents who elected him?
Representative Randy Feenstra (712) 224-4692
Would Rep. Feenstra support a nationwide ban on partisan gerrymandering? Why not? The Republicans have control of the House, Senate, and Presidency. If they care about elections being fair, why haven’t they done it yet? Why is he fighting in Congress for politicians’ ability to gerrymander districts instead of for the constituents who elected him?

Note From the Chair
Hey folks! Rita Hart here.
The Iowa State Fair is here! Ten days of pure Iowa fun, and a boatload of fried goodies to go along with it. The news these days can be stressful, so don’t forget to take some time off for yourself. The world will still be around when you get back, so enjoy the rides, sights, and attractions to your heart’s content.
Plenty of notable Democrats will be stopping by to say hello. Arizona Senator Rubin Gallego, Iowa Senate candidates Nathan Sage and Zach Wahls, Iowa Secretary of State candidate Ryan Peterman, as well as House candidates Taylor Wettach, Jennifer Konfrst, and Ashley WolfTornabane will all be stopping by our booth in the Varied Industries building in the coming days. Stop by the booth and ask when they’ll be there if you’d like to say hello. We hope you’ll get to meet them!
Enjoy the rest of summer while it lasts. As always, I appreciate your continued involvement and support of the Iowa Democratic Party.
Sincerely,
Rita Hart
IDP Chair
