Dear Friends,
As your Congresswoman, I'm dedicated to hearing your concerns and answering your questions about what's going on in DC. No matter where I travel throughout the District -- from the South Side of Chicago to the suburbs to rural communities -- there's been a flood of questions about Medicaid, Social Security, federal layoffs, and more. To answer these concerns, I’m hosting another in-person town hall on August 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Hyde Park, Chicago. I hope to see you there! Register here.
Come to My Town Hall
President Trump’s “Big Ugly Law” slashed $1 trillion from Medicaid, cut food assistance for families, and handed even more tax breaks to billionaires. These decisions hurt real people — and I’m here to talk about what House Democrats and I are doing to protect you. Join me for a town hall in Hyde Park.
We’ll talk about your rights, what’s at stake, and what comes next. I hope to see you there — bring your questions and your neighbors. Register here.
Improving Our Water Infrastructure
Reliable water access and flooding prevention are critical to communities. When water systems break, businesses close, hospitals halt services, schools are disrupted, and people don't have clean water. These vital services need to be maintained and developed for communities.
I attended a ribbon cutting for a stormwater retention project in Glenwood, which hasn't been updated since the 1960s. With better stormwater retention, Glenwood will be able to develop the area, including new senior housing – which is made possible by stronger, more modern stormwater infrastructure.
Additionally, I celebrated the groundbreaking of a new water main in Matteson. Matteson will replace 1,100 feet of the water main for preventative maintenance and to provide reliable and continued water service to Matteson residents. I'm proud to have secured funds for both of these projects.
Apply for the Congressional Youth Cabinet

The Congressional Youth Cabinet, a program I began in 2019, encourages high school students to become civically engaged and introduces them to youth-related policies that impact their community. This opportunity provides unique insight into the legislative process and how Congress functions.
The CYC consists of monthly meetings, participation in community events, lectures with guest speakers, and internal policy discussions. If selected, this is a one-year appointment. You can learn more and apply here by September 5.
If you would like to share your thoughts with me, feel free to visit my website. You can also keep in touch through Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and BlueSky.
Sincerely,
Robin L. Kelly Member of Congress
