Can you believe we need to armor up for a trip to Walmart?
 
A recent mass stabbing in the small Michigan town of Traverse City (population 15k) has brought home the fact that these random acts of violence can happen anywhere, at any time. Eleven people were seriously injured during a wild rampage at Walmart, of all places. The stabber would've gotten away had it not been for the intervention of two veterans in the parking lot. One man had a gun, and the other guy used a shopping cart as a weapon.
 
In today's article, Jose talks about protective wear you can easily acquire that will help protect you in a situation like this. While you may not want to go full on with the gear (I guess that depends on where you live), there's one small kitchen item I'm immediately throwing into my purse.
