LA County Joins Unified Command to Respond to Canyon Fire in Northern LA County and Ventura County

Mandatory evacuations underway in some areas and residents in nearby areas warned to be prepared to evacuate

LA County is currently responding to a wildfire burning in northern Los Angeles County and Ventura County. The Canyon Fire is currently 1,052 acres and is burning towards Castaic.

The following areas, shown on the map above in dark blue, are currently under an evacuation order and residents are urged to leave immediately:

  • CAS-ROMERO
  • CAS-HASLEY
  • CAS-OAKCANYON
  • CAS-VALVERDE

The following areas are currently under an evacuation warning, shown in yellow, and residents should prepare to evacuate if necessary:

  • CAS-INDUSTRY
  • CAS-CAMBRIDGE
  • CAS-HILLCREST
  • CAS-SLOAN
  • CAS-GREENHILL
  • CAS-GOLDENSTATE-B

Residents should:

An evacuation shelter has been established at:

  • College of the Canyons, East Gymnasium in Santa Clarita, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.
  • The closest parking lots to the gymnasium are lots 5, 6, and 7.

Large animals can be evacuated to:

  • Pierce College at 6201 Winnetka Ave, Woodland Hills, 91367

Small animals can be evacuated to:

  • Castaic Animal Care Center: 31044 Charlie Canyon Road, Castaic, 91384
  • Agoura Hills Animal Shelter: 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills, CA 91301
