Today, it was announced by the Kremlin that work is underway to set
up a meeting between Presidents Putin and Trump. Yuri Ushakov said to
reporters from Tass: “We have launched work to discuss the parameters
of such a meeting and the venue for it jointly with our American
colleagues now.” The Aug. 6 meeting between special envoy Steve
Witkoff and President Putin, along with this announcement, marks a
significant step in the right direction towards ensuring the
normalization of U.S.-Russian relations. On the other hand, however,
Trump is currently surrounded by hostile influences in every
direction—such as his financial advisors who are pushing him to use
tariffs against the BRICS+ nations, which, contrary to Trump himself,
are not “dead economies” but are emerging as a new source of growth
and vitality in the world. With the collaboration of the U.S. and
Europe with the nations of the Global South, a new post-colonial era
of growth can replace the dead-end, geopolitical order which is
pushing the world to World War III.
The following petition by the Schiller Institute, “An Urgent Appeal
to Presidents Xi Jinping, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin!” makes the
case that the enormous potential to shape the present period can be
realized if a meeting between Presidents Trump, Putin, and Xi at the
upcoming Sep. 3 celebrations in Beijing commemorating the defeat of
Japan in World War II occurs. An invitation has already been extended
by China to Donald Trump. The petition states:
“There is a great historic opportunity in front of us, where the
leaders of three great nations could send a powerful signal to the
world. If President Xi Jinping would invite President Trump to the
military parade scheduled for September 3rd in Beijing's Tiananmen
Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, and
President Trump would accept the invitation, as President Putin is
also expected to be present, the people of the world could find hope
that those three leaders would open a new chapter in the history of
humanity. From 1941 till 1945 the US and the Soviet Union were allied
against German national socialism, while in the same interval China
and the US were allies against Japanese militarism. If the three
Presidents would attend the military parade on September 3rd, and
together renew that sacred oath “Never again!,” it would send the
strongest message possible to the entire globe, that a new era of
peace will begin.
President Trump was elected for the second time, with a mandate to
make peace; to end the forever wars of his predecessors, and this is
what the Global Majority expects from President Xi and President
Putin.”
The petition can be circulated around the world as part of the
fight to shape the dynamic in the next weeks and months. Tomorrow, the
International Peace Coalition will bring together important voices
from the U.S. intelligence and military sectors. Former CIA analyst
Ray McGovern, NSA whistleblowers Bill Binney and Kirk Wiebe, and Lt.
Col Anthony Aguilar—who has recently blown the whistle on the
notorious Gaza Humanitarian Foundation for letting civilians in the
Gaza Strip be massacred by the IDF—will attend the meeting at 11am
EDT.
