Team LaCava joined neighbors, San Diego Police Department (SDPD) Northern Division, and local partners at the Pacific Beach Library for National Night Out. Part of a nationwide initiative, this annual event strengthens trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve through meaningful, in-person engagement. Thank you to SDPD, PB Library Branch Manager Christina Wainwright and team for your hospitality and dedication to PB, District 1, and the City of San Diego.

Kudos to our Council Communications Director, Chris Chan, who took the Cure Bound Cancer Challenge, riding 58 miles to raise money for Cancer Research. The funds raised will go to La Jolla Institute, Salk Institute, Scripps Research, UCSD Health, and Rady Children's to improve cancer diagnostics and treatment. Chris was riding for his wife, mother, aunt, and many others who have been affected by cancer.

San Diego is entering a warm stretch. During this heatwave, designated “Cool Zones” at our library branches, parks and recreation centers, and other public buildings will be open during regular hours as a refuge from the heat. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and check in on neighbors who may need extra support in the heat.
