Dear Neighbor,

As part of our Veterans Day of Action today, House Democrats across the country are honoring our nation’s veterans and reaffirming our commitment to veterans and their families in our districts.

The Trump administration and House Republicans are actively trying to undermine veterans’ care through their Big Ugly Law. By laying off tens of thousands of VA staff and proposing deep cuts to the VA budget, they have weakened the VA and made it harder — or, in some cases, almost impossible — for veterans to receive the care they deserve.

That’s why I held a Veterans Listening Session aboard the Battleship USS Iowa in San Pedro, where I was joined by veterans from across our CA-44 communities to bring attention to Trump and Republicans’ attacks on veterans’ health care. I also held a ceremony to honor Purple Heart recipients and to recognize the upcoming anniversary of the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act which was designed to secure care for veterans who had been exposed to toxic substances such as burn pits and Agent Orange.

Our veterans fought hard for the rights and freedom we have today. It’s only fair that we do our part in return by making sure our veterans receive the care they deserve and the benefits they have earned. Trump and Republicans are actively undermining veterans’ care, but House Democrats will continue to fight to fund the VA and protect veterans’ health care — because House Democrats respect and honor our veterans.

That’s why House Democrats have been out in full force meeting with veterans, holding hearings with veterans and military families, and demanding the Trump administration stop these cuts and strengthen veterans’ benefits— because House Democrats will never stop fighting for the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.

Sincerely,
