Dear Neighbor,
As part of our Veterans Day of Action today, House Democrats across the country are honoring our nation’s veterans and reaffirming our commitment to veterans and their families in our districts.
The Trump administration and House Republicans are actively trying to undermine veterans’ care through their Big Ugly Law. By laying off tens of thousands of VA staff and proposing deep cuts to the VA budget, they have weakened the VA and made it harder — or, in some cases, almost impossible — for veterans to receive the care they deserve.
That’s why I held a Veterans Listening Session aboard the Battleship USS Iowa in San Pedro, where I was joined by veterans from across our CA-44 communities to bring attention to Trump and Republicans’ attacks on veterans’ health care. I also held a ceremony to honor Purple Heart recipients and to recognize the upcoming anniversary of the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act which was designed to secure care for veterans who had been exposed to toxic substances such as burn pits and Agent Orange.
