What we’re seeing play out in Texas this week is nothing short of an all-out assault on voting rights.

At Trump’s behest, Texas Republicans released a new congressional map, and let’s be honest: it’s not a map at all. It’s a power grab.

It’s a map designed to protect the GOP’s narrow House majority, not to reflect the will of the people. They’re slicing up communities across South and Central Texas, targeting Democratic districts, and silencing Black and Latino voters in the process.

And when Democratic legislators in Texas fled the state to prevent these maps from being put into place, Governor Greg Abbott issued a warrant for their arrest.

I want you to know that I won’t be quiet about this.

This isn’t just about Texas. It’s about whether we’re going to have a democracy where the people choose their leaders or one where politicians choose their voters.

I’m going to do everything I can to protect our democracy, stop voter suppression, and win back the House. But I can’t do it alone.
