John,
A few years ago, our office reached a settlement under the Voting Rights Act to protect Minnesotans with disabilities who were being denied assistance at the ballot box.
We won guarantees for all Minnesota voters. And in doing so, we made our elections more accessible and more fair.
But under a new ruling from the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, that lawsuit wouldn’t even be allowed today.
They’ve declared that private citizens, and even state officials like me, no longer have standing to sue under a key part of the Voting Rights Act.
This ruling is dangerous. It opens the door to more discrimination. And if it’s not overturned, it will make our elections less accessible and less fair.
I believe in pushing back. I believe in making sure every eligible Minnesotan, regardless of ability or language, has a real voice in our democracy.
But I can’t do it alone. Can you make a donation today to help us push back against these attacks and protect the freedom to vote?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be processed now. |
Thank you for standing with me,
Steve
