Naturally, just as I was leaving the house to visit the Great American Farmer's Market here on Washington D.C.'s National Mall, my phone starts ringing like crazy.
Apparently, the UK's Daily Mail claims it has a single, anonymous source suggesting that Stephen K. Bannon is running for president, and dissing J.D. Vance along the way.
Immediately, this seemed like a story that has been confected to drive a wedge through the MAGA base. The fact it landed with an unknown, former Fox News reporter now writing for a UK tabloid made those alarm bells louder.
So, I called Steve myself, and got his reaction. You can read that scoop, here.
Having said that, these "rumors" have been swirling since Steve left the White House in 2017, and I know a lot of people who wish they were true (ahem). But for the time being, as I have had to tell about 17 reporters in the last 20 minutes, “Steve wants Donald J. Trump to run and Steve wants Donald J. Trump to win. Everything else is just noise from a bored DC media class.”
Cheers!
