Dear Friend of Israel,
While sanctions cripple the

Iranian economy , the Iranian regime continues to spend billions of dollars backing terrorists and working on its nuclear program.
Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted a

resolution criticizing Iran for denying inspectors access to two suspected nuclear sites and failing to answer questions about undeclared nuclear material.
Iran’s actions beg the question: What is the regime hiding?
We posed that question in

this memo that we provided to Congressional offices this week.
The U.S. administration continued its maximum pressure campaign against Iran, imposing new economic sanctions on the regime. On Wednesday, the Treasury Department

designated five Iranian captains who delivered gasoline to Venezuela in violation of existing U.S. sanctions. And on Thursday, the Treasury Department

targeted major Iranian metals companies and foreign entities whose actions helped fund the regime's destabilizing activities.
Below, I have included more news we are following this week.
Sincerely,
Brian Shankman
Director of Regional Affairs and Development

Reports: Iran Moved New Weapons into Syria; Israel Carries Out Airstrikes
On Tuesday night, Israel reportedly carried out

airstrikes on Iranian weapons facilities in Syria—the latest in a series of recent strikes on Iranian weapons depots across Israel's northern border.
Earlier that day, an Iranian weapons shipment had reportedly arrived in Syria.
Even amid the COVID-19 pandemic and dramatic inflation caused by sanctions, the Iranian regime continues to arm its terror proxies and transfer weapons to terrorists seeking to attack Israel. It is another reminder of the pressing need to extend the U.N. arms embargo on Iran before it expires in October.
Iran Investigates Large Explosion Near Key Military Site
An

explosion took place at an Iranian gas storage facility early Friday morning, near a site that has been crucial for Iran’s development of missiles and munitions.
The Iranian Defense Ministry said the blast was caused by an explosion in an industrial gas tank in a civilian area of Parchin.
The Parchin military base is a huge complex dedicated to development and production of rockets and ammunition, and contains several test sites. According to Western security, the base was used, until 2004, to experiment on explosives that could have been used in nuclear weapons.
Self-Cleaning Mask Can Kill Viruses with Heat from Phone Charger
Israeli researchers say they have

invented a reusable face mask that can kill the coronavirus with heat by drawing power from a mobile phone charger.
The new mask has a USB port that connects to a power source such as a standard cellphone charger that heats an inner layer of carbon fibers to 158 Fahrenheit, high enough to kill viruses.
The researchers submitted a patent for the mask in the United States in late March and say they are discussing commercializing the product with the private sector.
