United States: A bomb threat early Wednesday morning triggered a major evacuation at the Q Center in St Charles, Illinois, where hundreds of guests—including high-profile Texas lawmakers—were staying. Police reported that around 7:15 am, a potential threat was phoned in, sparking a full-scale emergency response.
Roughly 400 people were quickly evacuated from the hotel and conference facility on North 5th Avenue. Law enforcement teams from both the St. Charles Police Department and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive search of the premises. After sweeping the property, no explosives or dangerous materials were discovered. By late morning, officials gave the all-clear, and both guests and staff were allowed to return.
At the time of the threat, a large group of Texas Democratic lawmakers were staying at the hotel. They had traveled to Illinois as part of a political move to block a Republican vote on a controversial redistricting plan in Texas by breaking the quorum needed to proceed,
