[[link removed]]Dear friend and fellow sojourner,

We find ourselves in one of the most pivotal moments in recent U.S. history — a
moment that rises above our binaries.

As we anticipate a major presidential election, we worry that our democracy will
be threatened from within and without. In the midst of a global pandemic,
activists and justice seekers are rising up to honor Black lives and eliminate
police brutality once and for all. We celebrate Pride month as it was meant to
be celebrated, without whitewashing and without forgetting how its origin
parallels with these times.

Under the looming shadow of pandemic and authoritarianism, activists across
America are joining together in a thunderous cry for justice. We are walking with you
[[link removed]] , across binaries and divisions, to seek justice and reframe conversations in
these unprecedented times:

* Sojourners has worked for years to defend the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program – and celebrated the recent Supreme Court victory that defends DACA
recipients from deportation.
* On the same church steps that President Trump staged his now-infamous,
Bible-holding photo op, we led a solidarity faith vigil in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Washington.
* We organized, along with the U.S. Conference of Mayors, a National Day of Mourning and Lament on June 1, to honor the 100,000 lives lost to COVID-19, and the countless
others lost to the virus of systemic racism.
* We are empowering voters to exercise their right to vote, fighting voter suppression in states most
at risk, and advocating for mail-in balloting and other measures to keep
voters safe during this pandemic.
* And we continue to cover the protests, COVID-19, and other topics through the
lens of faith and justice, with Sojourners magazine and Sojo.net .

This pivotal moment is a time of looking both outward, to a brighter future, and
inward, into an examination of our biases and the corrupt and inhumane systems
we have allowed to remain in place for no better reason than laziness of thought
— a lack of what Walter Brueggemann calls “prophetic imagination.”

As we dream bigger, and lift the voices of those who do the same, we need you
with us. Join us as we move past binaries and build a better future.

am grateful for all that Sojourners is doing in this unprecedented moment of our
nation’s – even our world’s – history.” We are so close, only $2,009 to go before we meet this match. Can you help?
