While Congress slashed healthcare to give billionaires a tax break, JD Vance took a trip out to Ohio for his birthday. He made the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers raise the water levels of a river so he could have a nice kayaking trip.
Yeah.
This is what JD Vance is up to while Park Rangers and Forest Service arborists are getting fired, while Trump’s attacking protected national monuments and forests, while they’re looking at every avenue to gut the Antiquities Act and sell off millions of acres of public lands.
The American people are losing access to health care and national treasures that generations have enjoyed at no cost. But guys at the top like JD?
Elites like JD get to order the Army Corps of Engineers to literally change the outflows of a lake and raise the water levels of a river so he can kayak at taxpayer expense.
That’s “Hillbilly Elegy” JD Vance for you. Mr. Small Town America, using his power and privilege to serve himself in a way no member of the public ever could. Par for the course for this guy. He made piles of cash as a venture capitalist, left the people he grew up with behind, and sold his soul to kiss Trump’s ring.
In any other White House this would be an absolutely massive scandal, and wouldn’t leave the headlines for weeks. But with the litany of self dealing, bribery, and worse coming out of Trump and his administration, this barely cracks the Richter scale.
Bottom line: We can’t let ourselves become numb to this ridiculous level of corruption. Least of all right after JD Vance brought all of Trump’s lackeys to his house so they could get their story straight on the Epstein files.
JD doesn’t get a pass just because he’s a former Marine. He’s accountable to the public — to you, to us, and to everybody else in this country. And it’s time we reminded him of that.
