Friend,

When the American people overwhelmingly elected President Donald Trump to return to the White House, they did so with a clear mandate: unleash economic prosperity, deliver energy independence, secure our borders, reinstate law and order, and restore American greatness. The One Big Beautiful Bill does just that.

In recent weeks, we have continued to see devastating, real-life consequences of Biden and the Left’s failed border policies. Just last week, an illegal immigrant crashed into 42-year-old mother Maria Santos Pleitez and her daughter Dayanara Cortes, killing them and leaving another child critically wounded. They would still be alive today if it weren’t for these blue-state sanctuary city policies that allow criminal aliens to go back into society and endanger communities.

Under the leadership of President Trump and DHS Secretary Noem, the administration is working tirelessly to end sanctuary cities and undo the invasion of illegal aliens, drugs, and criminals ushered in under Biden.

The One Big Beautiful Bill is crucial to President Trump’s law and order agenda and will restore the safety of our communities by delivering permanent, enforceable border security. While Democrats defend open-border policies and put illegal aliens over American citizens, I'm working with my colleagues and President Trump to deliver real solutions. Here’s how we are fixing Biden’s border crisis through the One Big Beautiful Bill. We are:

  • Funding ICE enforcement capacity for up to 1 million removals annually
  • Adding 10,000 new ICE personnel, 5,000 new customs officers, and 3,000 new Border Patrol agents
  • Finishing President Trump’s border barrier system, including water-based barriers, which I helped secure, and pedestrian barriers
  • Increasing immigration-related fees so taxpayers don’t foot the bill for illegal immigrants

Iowans voted for a secure border. We heard them, and that is what we are delivering.

Sincerely,

Connecting with Iowans Across Iowa's Second Congressional District

I recently had an incredible visit at Upper Iowa University in Fayette! We visited the commons and then ventured over to tour the new, state-of-the-art learning lab and Baker-Hebron Science Hall.

I’m so grateful for the role they play in meeting the needs of students across all locations, and I look forward to supporting their mission in Congress!

I also got the chance to visit the Decorah Sales Commission with the Livestock Marketing Association! It was great to learn more from their team and get a behind the scenes look at their facility.

We talked about my friend and colleague Rep. Mark Alford’s A-PLUS Act and the importance of getting it across the finish line, so livestock marketing businesses have more flexibility and expanded processing within their own operation. I am so proud to co-sponsor this legislation and will continue advocating for Iowa’s livestock producers!

On my 22 County Tour, I had the privilege to meet with Lansing business owners and local stakeholders to discuss the impact of the Lansing bridge closure in Allamakee County.

Prioritizing safety and efficiency as we improve our infrastructure is critical. My team and I will continue to stay in close contact with local officials & the Lansing business community as construction progresses.

To round out my district stops for the week, I had a blast at the Clayton County Fair! There’s just nothing better than having ice cream on a summer day, catching up with constituents, and making new memories with your community!
