Every Marylander has the right to feel safe in their own
neighborhood,
John xxxxxx. That’s why public safety
has been a top priority for our administration since Day One.
When we took office, we established an all-of-the-above approach. We
treated the problem as a public health crisis. We used the data to
identify ways to deter crime. We worked with all of the stakeholders we
could – within our communities, in law enforcement, and more.
And, yes, we increased accountability for violent offenders and made
historic investments in law enforcement. But we also invested in our
communities and in violence prevention programs.
The results? We’ve seen some of the most significant drops in homicides
and non-fatal shootings in America.
I said it before, and I’ll say it again: I refuse to be a governor who
attends funerals or offers thoughts and prayers without delivering any
real, substantive change.
We’re going to keep working together, with and within our communities. We
won’t quit until we make Maryland a safer state for everyone.
