Encourage SBOE to Protect Texas Children & Oppose Radical Sex-Ed

Next Monday, June 29, the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) will begin discussing revisions to Health education standards (Health TEKS), including sex education, for all Texas public school students. Sex education is not required to be taught in Texas public schools, and current law, in Texas Education Code 28.004, requires an abstinence focused approach if sex education is taught. Texas Values team members will be testifying during the virtual meeting on Monday. The deadline to sign up for public testimony is 5 PM todaycontact us to learn more.

Leftist LGBT advocacy groups are calling this a “once in-a-generation opportunity” to attack Texas’ abstinence focused approach and teach highly sexualized LGBT propaganda starting in kindergarten. Even if you are unable to sign up to testify, we encourage Texans to take action today by contacting the SBOE in support Texas’ common sense, abstinence focused approach. The future of 5.5 million public school students hangs in the balance.

Victory: Mansfield ISD Votes Against Adding Pro-LGBT Policy

This week during a virtual meeting, the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees voted 7-0 against a pro-LGBT policy giving special protections to teachers and students on the basis of “sexual orientation.” This victory comes after a long battle over Mansfield ISD policies that began with a lawsuit against the school district by a LGBT activist teacher, and after the Supreme Court Bostock decision to redefine “sex” in employment cases.

Texas Values team members submitted testimony to the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees against the pro-LGBT policy. We are encouraged that the Board did not cave to radical LGBT activists seeking to rewrite the law creating avenues for LGBT activism without parental permission, threaten religious liberty, and cause issues with privacy and women’s sports.
