On top of the federal cuts, California just passed a state budget that will rip life-saving care away from dozens of undocumented workers that our economy depends on.
And both state and federal cuts to housing programs could put thousands more people on the streets statewide.
We depend on these systems more than you may think. Medicaid and SNAP budgets provide housing, homelessness support, job training, food, and mental healthcare to San Diegans who need it the most.
And these cuts could devastate those services.
We aren’t just talking about numbers here. We’re talking about hundreds of San Diegans on the streets with nowhere to go, families forced to choose bills over healthcare, and seniors making tough calls on a fixed income.
It’s still too soon to predict the full impacts of these cuts, but one thing is clear — our needs are Monica’s #1 priority, and she will continue fighting hard for us no matter what.
Even in this tough budget year, Monica helped secure:
$93 million for a new public health lab
$6 million for homelessness services
$1.5 million for unincorporated area fire services
$800,000 for housing support for LGBTQ+ San Diegans
As always, Team Monica is in your corner. Thank you for your support.
In solidarity,
Team Monica
