John,
When disasters strike—whether natural catastrophes, armed conflicts or mass displacement—the International Rescue Committee can mobilize within hours.
I lead the IRC's global emergency response efforts, which span more than 40 countries. And with 123 million people now displaced by crisis, I want to share what that work really looks like—and how your support makes it possible.

The truth is, we don't wait for disaster to strike. Our emergency preparedness work begins long before a crisis unfolds.
Each year, we publish our Emergency Watchlist, a ranking of the 20 countries most at risk of new or worsened humanitarian emergencies. We work closely with our teams on the ground to build detailed contingency plans. So when the worst happens, we're ready to move—fast.
With your support, we're able to deliver immediate relief while laying the foundation for long-term recovery. Our integrated approach includes:
- Deploying emergency teams within 72 hours
- Providing urgent health care
- Supporting families with cash and economic assistance
- Protecting the most vulnerable, including women and children
- Helping communities build lasting resilience
What makes our emergency work so effective is simple: We ask communities what they need, we listen and we act based on what they tell us. That feedback shapes everything we do.
I invite you to read more about how the IRC responds to emergencies around the globe.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of this work.
