Tick Populations Are Growing. Here’s How To Stay Protected.

Tick bites and Lyme disease cases are on the rise in the northeast region and New York City. The growth can be attributed to a wide range of issues, experts say, including an increase in deer population in the northeast and climate change.

“Warmer average temperatures driven by climate change have led to longer summers, earlier spring, and shorter and milder winter, extending the geography and seasonality of ticks,” the city’s Health Department said in an advisory.
