Just four years after redistricting, Republicans across the country are already trying to redraw the maps again.
This is not normal.
Redistricting usually only happens once every ten years, but Republicans are jumping the gun in a blatant attempt to steal the House and guarantee their majority for the rest of Trump’s term. In Texas, Democratic state reps literally had to flee the state to break quorum in an effort to stop Republicans from forcing through a new map.
If Republicans in Texas insist on redrawing their maps, California may be forced to revisit its own lines — to fight fire with fire.
If California redraws its maps, it could put Congressman Ruiz at risk. We don’t know what the new CA-25 will look like, but we’re concerned the District will become more competitive.
Our campaign didn’t anticipate this curveball at the beginning of the year. We couldn’t have imagined that we would be campaigning in a new and more challenging District. We’re already making plans to hire more staff, buy more ads, hold more rallies — drastically adding to our original budget.
We need to defend CA-25 in order to flip the House in the Midterms. Whether we are redistricted or not, people are depending on us to re-elect Congressman Ruiz. Team Ruiz will have to be prepared either way…
Will you chip in $10 and help us fill the gap in our new budget so that we can prepare for redistricting?
