As a former Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and founding member of the
LGBT Equality Caucus, I feel nothing but hope and excitement around Gina Ortiz
Jones’ campaign, because Gina is exactly the type of colleague I need in the
House.
But before I get more into the whys, I want to focus on the how -- the only
way we’re going to elect Gina in the most competitive district in the country
is by supporting her with our small-dollar donations. Help me get Gina to
Washington by donating $20 today.

I was born in El Paso, Texas, and while I now represent California in
Congress, a piece of my heart will always be in El Paso. An Air Force and Iraq
War veteran, Gina is no stranger to service. She is running to serve all of
Texas’s 23rd Congressional District, from San Antonio to El Paso, and I know
she’ll always do right by her diverse and vibrant district.
TX-23 is home to two major cities, many rural and frontier communities, and
shares more of our border with Mexico than any other congressional district.
Gina has the experience, heart, and courage necessary to bring true power to
the people.
Winning this seat doesn’t just protect the House — it sends a message to
far-right political operatives and special interest groups that they can’t get
away with running extremists who would harm the communities they’re meant to
represent.
We can’t let Gina’s opponents win. I so look forward to working with Gina in
the House to work towards progressive change, but first, we have to win. Help
me take us a step closer by donating $20 or whatever you can today.

Gina Ortiz Jones is an Iraq War veteran running to flip TX-23 -- Democrats'
best shot in the entire country at flipping a district from red to blue.
