My constituents elected me to do one job: improve the lives of our
neighbors up and down the state.
That means fighting for paid family and medical leave. Lowering grocery
prices. Defending unions. Delivering results.
And I intend to do my job.
But now Republicans in Congress are calling it quits. Speaker Mike Johnson
and his allies are hanging a “closed for business” sign on the Capitol and
starting the August recess early — not for any legitimate legislative
reason, but because they’d rather protect Donald Trump than serve the
American people and release the Epstein files.
Republicans should understand that Congress isn’t a clubhouse. It’s a
co-equal branch of government. And Americans can’t afford a vacation from
democracy.
While the Speaker plays political games, families are facing real
struggles. The cost of living keeps rising. Health care remains
unaffordable for too many. Working parents are stretched thin without
child care or paid leave.
We still have work to do — and I’m not going anywhere.
That’s why I’m asking you to join me in sending a clear message to Speaker
Johnson:

This isn’t about politics. It’s about basic governance, transparency, and
standing up for our neighbors — not covering up for the powerful.
With gratitude,
Sarah
