Rep. Haas Honors FastSigns of Kankakee for July Local Business Spotlight

I am thrilled to recognize FastSigns of Kankakee for my July Local Business Spotlight because of their outstanding commitment to customer service and job creation. They’ve grown their business with a people-first approach and continue creating good-paying local jobs.

FastSigns of Kankakee is owned and operated by Dave and Sonya Comer. Dave began working for the previous owner before deciding to purchase the business himself. He and Sonya were drawn to the FastSigns franchise model for the support and opportunity it offered. Since taking over, they have added seven full-time positions and one part-time role.

FastSigns of Kankakee doesn’t just want to be another vendor; they strive to be true partners to their clients. Their dedication to excellence and the community makes them an ideal choice for this month’s Local Business Spotlight.

FastSigns of Kankakee is located at 601 N 5th Avenue in Kankakee. For more information, visit FastSigns.com/Kankakee-IL.

2025 Summer Reading Program

My fifth annual summer reading program has returned! Students from Kindergarten to 5th grade can participate by reading ten or more books before August 15th, 2025. Books over 150 pages count as two books. All students who complete their summer reading will receive an invitation to an ice cream party and certificate ceremony in late summer!

This program is a great way to encourage kids to remain active readers during the summer months, which is critical to ensuring a smooth transition back to school in the fall. I invite all interested students to participate and join our celebration for their achievements in late summer!

Once a student completes their reading, they can fill out their form and have their parents verify the information. Online forms can be completed by clicking here or visiting RepHaas.com. Paper forms are available at my district office, located at 187 S Schuyler Avenue, Suite 110 in Kankakee.
