Affirmative Work Is Preventative Work

Help Us Keep Families Out of Detention

Hello John,

This week, it was confirmed: the Fort Bliss detention facility in El Paso is preparing to reopen to process migrant families as early as Friday. Once again, our region is being used as a staging ground for the mass detention of vulnerable people seeking safety.

While this news is devastating, there’s also reason for hope. Across New Mexico, we’ve seen a growing number of naturalizations, work permits, and approvals for humanitarian visas. Every win is a reminder that hopefully with the right legal support, our communities can thrive and avoid the trauma of detention and deportation altogether.

At Santa Fe Dreamers Project, we believe in fighting at the roots. Affirmative legal work such as asylum, DACA, naturalization, and family petitions, is one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent the harm of detention before it begins. But we can’t do it without you.

Now is the time to act.

The reactivation of Fort Bliss means more people at risk. More families vulnerable to separation. More urgency to keep people out of the system before they ever fall into it.

Donate today to help us expand our legal defense and keep our community free.

In Solidarity,

Santa Fe Dreamers Project
