Friend,
Today marks the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 being signed into law—a landmark achievement in the long struggle for civil rights and democracy in America. The law has been watered down since its original passing and its protections are under threat.
In 2013, a Supreme Court decision loosened requirements on states with a history of discrimination in voting. Trump’s Big Lie justified more voter suppression laws across the nation, and the Supreme Court is preparing to hear a case that could roll back the VRA once again.
The fight to protect the right to vote is far from over. As Secretary of State, Jena has been on the frontlines of this fight. She expanded voter access, secured our elections, and defended the right of every eligible Coloradan—Republican, Democrat, and Unaffiliated—to have their voice heard. And earlier this year, she worked with the Colorado legislature to pass the Colorado Voting Rights Act - so that the state of Colorado can protect the right to vote for all eligible people.
Now, Jena is running for Attorney General to continue this fight.
Donald Trump and his allies are determined to roll back voting rights and undermine our democracy. We need a pro-democracy Attorney General who will protect the fundamental right to vote and ensure every citizen can participate in free and fair elections.
Jena has never backed down from defending democracy—and she won’t start now.
Will you chip in today to help elect Jena as Colorado’s next Attorney General?
