I’ve been proudly standing with and supporting the brave Democratic Texas legislators who have come to seek refuge here in Illinois. 

And when I spoke out alongside them, I had two very simple messages for Donald Trump, Greg Abbott and every single MAGA Republican who wants to silence the voices of millions:

Don’t Mess with Texas.

These brave Democratic legislators truly represent Texas. You can silence them, you can smear them, you can saddle them with fines – but you cannot intimidate them.

Don’t Mess with Democracy.

You may be able to gerrymander the hell out of that map, but two can play at that game. It’s not going to work – because we are not going to let it work. 

Across the country, our democracy is under attack by Republicans who’d rather cower before Donald Trump than do their jobs.
