Donald Trump is demanding that Texas redraw our congressional map mid-decade — before the midterm elections.
He told reporters yesterday that he’s “entitled to five more seats” in Texas. He clearly thinks nobody will stand in the way of his authoritarian power grab.
But we’ve got news for Donald Trump: We are a free people. No kings, no tyrants.
That’s why Texas House Democrats left the state: to deny Republicans the quorum they need to ram through this rigged map. Breaking quorum is the most powerful tool they have, and they’re using it to defend our democracy when it matters most.
These Texas House Democrats aren’t just taking a stand for our state, but for everyone in every state.
Trump knows his cruel, corrupt, chaotic agenda is wildly unpopular. He knows the midterms won’t go his way. He knows he’s going to lose the House of Representatives. So he’s trying to rig the system to hold onto power.
Texas Democrats are putting everything on the line to stop him. Now, we have to step up and have their backs.
