I’m running for Senate to fight for families like mine - the ones worried the bottom could fall out at any moment. I want to take a moment to tell you a story, but if you don’t have the time, can you give $5 to help power my fight?
Growing up, I had a different-colored lunch ticket. I ate because of the free and reduced-price lunch program. So when I say that one of the most important things our administration has done is making sure every kid in Minnesota gets fed at school without question, I mean it — because I’ve been that kid before, empty-handed in the lunch line.
The GOP’s inhumane budget bill gutted SNAP and will take food away from children, families, and seniors. It would have rocked my family growing up. We have to raise our voices and demand better; they can’t keep getting away with this.
No kid should be asked, “Do you have enough money for lunch in your account?”
Just: “Do you want chicken or pizza today?”
That’s what dignity looks like. It’s why I’m running. Minnesotans deserve more people in Washington who know what it’s like to grow up on the margins.
People who understand that food assistance supports families, farmers, local economies, and entire communities. But I need your help to bring that perspective to the Senate.
