This is a longer email. But I hope you’ll stick with me.

Last week, I wrote an op-ed in the New York Times.

I believe that the chaos at the federal level gives Democrats a chance to prove to voters that we can actually deliver bold, transformative policies at the state level. But our current leadership is completely fumbling this chance.

I’m running for governor of New York to change that. If you believe that Democrats need to meet this moment with a vision for the future, will you chip in here and donate to my campaign?

Here’s the long and the short of it:

Republicans voted to rip away healthcare from millions of Americans to fund tax cuts for the ultrawealthy and a massive increase in funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

We know their gameplan: They’re going to make Americans poorer and sicker – and they’re going to say immigrant communities are somehow to blame.

Democrats have been warning about this moment for years. Our party has a chance to prove that at the state and local level, we are more than just our outrage. If we can’t deliver now, when the stakes are highest, we do not deserve the trust of the people we claim to represent.

But New York leaders are failing this test.

If you listen to Kathy Hochul, you’d think that there’s nothing we can do to fight back.

In New York, the legislature is not in session. But the governor has the constitutional authority to call a special session and work with Democrats to pass legislation that makes up for draconian budget cuts and protects our immigrant communities. That should happen now.

Instead, the Democratic establishment confuses triangulation with leadership and treats stability as a virtue in and of itself. There’s a chasm between what we say and what we deliver. We continue asking voters to show up while we refuse to show up for them.

Our party leaders seem more interested in clinging to power than delivering for the people. That’s why our party continues to have terrible poll numbers, even as Trump and Republicans cut social safety nets.

If we want to win back Washington, we need places like New York to be successful. And we can’t do that by running the same broken establishment playbook.

I’m running for governor to change the playbook and deliver real, transformative policies for our state. If making New York a leader in the fight against Trump is worth $10 to you, will you donate to my campaign today? [[link removed]]
