Friend,

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has always played a pivotal role in the failed drug war. And now the Trump administration has given it unprecedented new powers to suppress and surveil the nationwide protests in response to police violence.

Once again, we’re witnessing the DEA overextend its authority. Urge Congress to hold an oversight hearing and take away the DEA’s new policing powers: [link removed]

For nearly 50 years, the DEA has fueled mass incarceration, wasted taxpayer money, abused its authority and blocked scientific research.

The agency has a history of human rights abuses, lavish payments to confidential informants, and surveillance of Americans with no suspected connection to illegal drug activities.

The Trump administration’s recent expansion and misuse of the DEA’s power to police protests reinforces the draconian purpose of this agency. We can’t allow this to happen.

DPA is leading the coalition calling for an end to the Trump administration’s use of the DEA to surveil protestors and a federal oversight hearing. Join us by telling Congress it’s time hold the DEA accountable: [link removed]

We have long been critical of the DEA and called for its abolishment [link removed]. Yet despite its scandal-ridden history, it’s never faced serious scrutiny. Together, let’s force Congress to reign in the DEA.

Sincerely,

Grant Smith
