Last month, the GOP and President Trump passed the Big Ugly Bill, which kicks millions of Americans off of their Medicaid.
Now, we are seeing the ramifications of those cuts, with hospitals threatening to shut down and nursing shortages on the rise. With millions of New Yorkers currently on Medicaid, this betrayal will lead to a sicker city.
On top of these massive cuts to Medicaid, we are facing threats to Social Security benefits, too.
Social Security offices are a mess—with increased wait times, unhelpful customer service, and delays on benefits. Now, reports are coming out that Social Security funds could run out in less than ten years if Congress does not take action.
Our job as your elected officials is to make sure you have access to the life, liberty, and happiness that was promised to you in our Declaration of Independence. But the GOP doesn’t seem to see it that way.
They are voting left and right to defund programs that will keep our country healthy, all to give tax cuts to the wealthy. Instead of protecting our constituents, the GOP is selling our rights and benefits off to the highest bidders—the billionaire GOP campaign donors.
