Hi John,
On Thursday, August 14, Social Security turns 90 (!) and AFGE members across the country are hosting #SocialSecurityStrong events across the country with Social Security Workers United. It’s time to take a stand together against the layoffs, chaotic and confusing policy changes, and open attempts to privatize this beloved program.

Since Trump took office, Social Security has experienced historic staffing cuts that have exacerbated an already existing staffing crisis; combined with cruel and nonsensical policy changes, DOGE and the Trump Administration are threatening the access to benefits that so many seniors and disabled Americans rely on. We are currently serving more people than ever while experiencing one of the lowest staffing levels in 50 years.
Across the board, we, as federal workers, are dealing with constant stress and uncertainty about our jobs and our future. Enough is enough. Join us on August 14 to be in solidarity with one another and keep Social Security Strong.
