In Texas, state Republicans are redrawing legislative maps ahead of 2026. Not because voters asked for it — but because they’re afraid of what voters will say at the ballot box.
This isn’t democracy, it’s desperation. And it’s happening right in front of our eyes.
Faced with few options, state Democrats have left the Capitol to deny Republicans a quorum needed to pass legislation. Governor Greg Abbott has issued threats to arrest and remove the rebel lawmakers if they don't return.
John, this is serious. Redistricting experts and watchdogs have raised the alarm. The GOP is exploiting off-cycle redistricting windows to draw even more distorted maps that could lock in their power for years to come.
Their goal is clear. But so is ours.
