Dear Friends,
I am excited to share the latest news from Congress and the work I am doing in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the 34th Congressional District of Texas.
Warm regards,

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez
Standing Up to Redistricting
I was honored to join my fellow Texas Democrats and the Voting Rights Caucus to speak out against the redistricting effort led by Governor Greg Abbott during the Texas Legislature’s current special session. As President Trump previously stated publicly, he wants Texas to redraw our state’s congressional maps so that Texas will send five more Republicans to Congress (and five fewer Democrats).
This would involve reconfiguring districts across the state, including our own TX-34.
This is an attack on South Texas citizens and on our right and ability to choose the people we want to represent us at the ballot box. It is not representatives who choose their voters, the voters choose their representatives.
I will always speak out against voter disenfranchisement and will stand up to this attack on South Texas voters.
Advocating for Small Businesses
I am proud to announce that the bill I introduced with Congressman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY-02), the Advocating for Small Business Act, was favorably reported out of the House Financial Services Committee. Small businesses are the backbone of every community across the country, and it’s time federal regulators, like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), take their concerns and ideas seriously.
My bill would create dedicated “Offices of Small Business” within each of the SEC’s rule-writing divisions to ensure new policies support capital formation for small and emerging business. At a time when small businesses are confronting rising prices due to tariffs and a national worker shortage, Congress must do its part to help.

Celebrating the Groundbreaking of the Outdoor Kennel Expansion at the Harlingen Animal Shelter!
On Thursday, July 31st, Team Gonzalez attended the groundbreaking of the outdoor kennel expansion at the Harlingen Animal Shelter! With this expansion, the shelter will increase adoption rates and enhance the quality of life for our furry friends as they wait for their forever homes.
TxDOT Federal & State Grants for TX-34

With the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a bill I proudly supported, we were able to secure $5.6 million in federal grants from the Texas Department of Transportation. This funding will go towards initiatives such as enhancing mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities and strengthening rural areas. On top of the federal grants, TX-34 will receive $3.4 million in state funding as well.
