Texas Republicans have redrawn their congressional map to rig the system and steal five Democratic seats in the U.S. House. This past Sunday, Texas Democrats left their state in order to put a stop to it.

By fleeing the state and breaking quorum to block this Republican power grab, Texas Democrats are joining a proud coalition of courageous resistance that we’ve seen right here in Wisconsin.

In 2011, Wisconsin Republicans rammed through Act 10, a devastating attack on workers’ rights. In protest, 14 of our Democratic State Senators made a bold decision: they left the state to block the bill. They became known as the "Wisconsin 14," and their courage inspired a movement that filled the Capitol for weeks.

Now, Texas Democrats are showing that same courage by leaving everything behind to protect democracy and stand up to extreme Republican overreach.

This isn’t just about Texas or Wisconsin. It’s about all of us. Across the country, Republicans are trying to rig the rules to cling to power through gerrymandering, voter suppression, and anti-democratic legislation.
