Resources to Help You Help Your Loved One

Substance use trends are constantly changing. Here are two new resources to keep you informed and help you have effective conversations with a loved one:

1. Video: Alcohol & Teens: What Every Parent Needs to Know

2. Article: Cannabis-Infused Drinks: A Parent’s Guide to Weed Beverages, Risks & Safe Conversations

1. 🎥 What Every Parent Needs to Know About Teens & Alcohol

Teens are drinking less, but when they do, it’s often in high-risk ways like binge drinking. And alcohol companies are making products that look like soda, taste like candy, and are being marketed to young people. But you can have meaningful conversations with your child that actually make a difference.

This video shares what teen drinking looks like today, the health risks involved, and strategies for setting boundaries while building trust.

2. 🍃 Cannabis-Infused Drinks Are Showing Up in Stores

You may have seen brightly packaged cannabis drinks on store shelves next to soda or sparkling water, even in places where marijuana is supposed to be sold only at licensed dispensaries.

Some of these products look like harmless sodas but may contain high doses of THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient responsible for the "high" from cannabis use.

Our newest article ([link removed] ) talks about how:

-

these drinks can cause accidental overconsumption, especially if consumed quickly like regular beverages

-

labeling isn’t always accurate, and they can contain mind-altering cannabis compounds, even if labeled “CBD-only”

-

packaging and flavors make them appealing to young people, despite serious risks to brain development and mental health
