Texas LGBTQ+ legislators are under attack. Governor Greg Abbott is trying to have them arrested.

More than 50 state house lawmakers — including every out LGBTQ+ legislator — fled Texas to block extremist redistricting maps that would silence voters and rig the political playing field. These maps would erase communities and even eliminate entire districts, like that of Rep. Julie Johnson, who just made history last year as the first out LGBTQ+ person elected to Congress from Texas.

This isn’t just about maps. It’s about power. Just last month, former President Trump said, “I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know. And we are entitled to five more seats.” Now, anti-equality leaders are working to make that a reality by drawing unfair maps and punishing the lawmakers who dare to stand in their way. Governor Abbott is trying to arrest LGBTQ+ lawmakers for defending democracy. Trump is trying to redraw Congressional maps to support his power grab. He isn't entitled to anything - but the people of Texas need leaders who are going to stand up for democracy and LGBTQ+ leadership. And that's what our elected officials are fighting for every day.

Together, we can defend the leaders who defend us and stop the erasure of our voices, our votes, and our communities.
