DELIVERING RESULTS: CODIFYING STRONG BORDER POLICIES INTO LAW

This month, we’re launching a special series to highlight key executive actions that have been codified into law, turning promises into permanent policy. Each week will focus on a different set of policies that directly impact families and communities in Florida’s 18th District.

Since the start of the 119th Congress, we’ve made real progress restoring border security and protecting American families. After years of open‑border policies that fueled record illegal crossings, drug trafficking and strain on local communities we are taking decisive steps to enforce the law and safeguard our national security. We’re starting this series with immigration and border-related executive actions that are now the law of the land. From day, we’ve hit the ground running to secure our border and put the safety of the American people first.

Key executive actions now codified include:

Securing Our Borders – Resumes construction of physical barriers, surges manpower to high‑traffic areas and expands technology to detect and stop illegal crossings;
Declaring a National Emergency at the Southern Border – Mobilizes federal resources to confront the unprecedented influx of illegal crossings and drug smuggling; and
Ending Taxpayer Subsidized Open Borders – Halts federal funding for programs that incentivize unlawful entry and redirects resources to enforcement and community safety,

These measures are part of a broader effort to strengthen security at the border. Additional initiatives are still advancing through Congress. I will keep working to see them fully implemented so families in Florida’s 18th District and across the nation remain safe.

LAKE PLACID IN BLOOM: HONORING FLORIDA’S CALADIUM CAPITAL

Team Franklin was proud to join thousands of visitors at the Annual Caladium Festival in Lake Placid. This long‑standing tradition highlights the town’s proud heritage as Caladium Capital of the World. Each year, this vibrant hometown festival brings families from across Florida together to enjoy local food, music and community events. Our staff appreciated the chance to connect with constituents and hear about the issues that matter most to families in Florida’s 18th District. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to share their thoughts and celebrate one of Florida’s most vibrant hometown festivals.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: VET FEST 2025

Too many veterans face needless hurdles when trying to access the benefits they have earned through service. To help streamline the process, my office is hosting our third annual Vet Fest to bring federal, state and local providers together in one place and make it easier for veterans to get the help they need.

This event will be held Saturday, September 13th from 10 AM to 2 PM at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium, 2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33805. Veterans and their families will be able to connect directly with organizations that provide support for VA claims, healthcare enrollment, toxic exposure screening, mental health services, employment and housing assistance, women’s health and more. Admission and parking are free.
